In 2019, the gross domestic product (GRDP) increased by 7.02% compared to 2018, the highest in the last 5 years; State budget revenue from the local economy reached VND 6,700 billion, equaling 110.2% of the estimate and 111.8% compared to 2018; total social investment capital was 31,887 billion Dong, up 1,708 billion Dong compared to 2018; export turnover of goods reached 890 million USD, up 5.95% over the same period last year; reached and exceeded all 13/13 targets assigned by the Provincial People's Council. The province has also promptly developed the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control plan, with asynchronous and quick coordination to implement effective disease prevention and control measures. The province's competitiveness index (PCI) in 2019 has increased 7 levels compared to 2018. Over 99% of administrative procedures are solved on time.

The two key economic sectors of An Giang are agriculture and tourism. Infrastructure and the rural face have been gradually improved and changed in a positive manner, in association with the effective implementation of the National Target Program on building new rural areas in the province. In an increase of 7.02% GRDP, the agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 2.65%, contributing 0.82%.

In 2019, the total rice output reached nearly 3.92 million tons, of which sticky rice and quality rice varieties reached about 1,050 million tons, up 73,700 tons from the previous year. Fishery production for the whole year reached 532,600 tons, up 9.41% over the same period. Facing strict requirements of the export market, the pangasius industry has gradually improved the quality of raw materials, and at the same time strengthened the linkage linking businesses with farmers, so the output continued to increase, reaching 412,000 tons. Regarding tourism, the number of visitors to An Giang increased by 8.24% compared to the same period in 2018. The key tourist areas such as Nui Sam, Nui Cam, Tra Su, Cu Lao January continue to be invested in, development Planning. For tourism, An Giang strives to become a national tourist destination with its own cultural and human characteristics, building a prestigious, quality and competitive An Giang tourism brand. The province is mobilizing investment resources, building quality, diverse and unique tourism products to meet the needs of tourists, with priority given to four typical types: spiritual tourism; sightseeing tourism, convalescence; ecotourism, river tourism; Visit historical and cultural relics.
