Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the efforts, positive contributions, and close coordination of Ambassador Ito Naoki and the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam in promoting the robust, substantial, and effective development of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across various fields in recent times.
Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that in the context of complex international developments, Vietnam consistently implements a foreign policy of friendship, cooperation, development, diversification, and multilateralization, as a responsible partner contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world. He regards Japan as one of the foremost and long-term important partners.
Congratulating Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung on his new responsibility, Ambassador Ito Naoki affirmed that Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru and Japanese leaders trust and support Vietnam's reform efforts under the leadership of General Secretary To Lam.
Ambassador Ito Naoki emphasized that Japan wishes to contribute to Vietnam's development and the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as an irreplaceable partner.
Expressing his honour to meet Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung on his appointment and during the month marking the 52nd anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, Ambassador Ito Naoki assessed that the friendly cooperative relations between the two countries are developing well with substantial progress, especially following the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru to Vietnam at the end of April 2025.

During the meeting, Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung suggested that the Japanese Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam closely coordinate to arrange visits and meetings between the high-level leaders of the two countries in the near future. He also proposed reviewing past agreements between the high-level leaders of the two countries, developing specific roadmaps to accelerate ongoing projects, and discussing and agreeing on specific cooperation content in economic, investment, trade, local cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges to further promote the substantial and effective development of Vietnam-Japan cooperation in the coming time.
Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung extended an invitation to Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi to visit Vietnam soon and co-chair the 13th Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee meeting.
Responding to Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung's suggestions, Ambassador Ito Naoki affirmed that he would closely coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam to implement the agreements of the high-level leaders of the two countries and promote Vietnam-Japan cooperation in defense-security, economy, ODA, investment, digital transformation, green transition, and high-quality human resource training in the semiconductor industry. He also emphasized close coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
