Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung receives U.S. Ambassador Marc Knapper

During the meeting, Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that Vietnam always regards the United States as a strategically important partner. He highly appreciated the substantial progress in bilateral relations since the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023.
The two sides have enhanced exchanges and delegations at all levels, with economic, trade, and investment cooperation continuing to develop steadily. They maintain regular dialogue on reciprocal tax issues. Security and defense relations, as well as settlement of war consequences between the two nations, have seen significant progress.

Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung acknowledged the close cooperation between the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi and the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Ambassador Knapper’s role in deepening Vietnam-U.S. relations to meet the practical interests of the two peoples.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs leader proposed that both sides continue to work closely to effectively implement the agenda agreed upon by high-level leaders and working levels of the two countries.
Ambassador Marc Knapper expressed his delight at the continued strong development of bilateral relations as the two countries celebrate 30 years of diplomatic ties.

The U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam praised the outcomes of exchanges between General Secretary To Lam and President Donald Trump. He thanked the Vietnamese Government and ministries for their efforts in promoting bilateral cooperation and committing to fully implementing international trade agreements, prioritizing a favourable environment for U.S. businesses investing in Vietnam.
Ambassador Marc Knapper affirmed that the United States will continue to partner with Vietnam to achieve strategic growth objectives, particularly in high-tech science fields. He also emphasized ongoing cooperation in other key areas such as settlement of war consequences, education, healthcare, and combating transnational crime.
