She underscored Guangdong’s geographical proximity and cultural affinity with Vietnam, its historical role in fostering bilateral friendship, and its position as an active driver of practical cooperation. Notably, General Secretary and State President To Lam’s choice of Guangdong as the first stop during his state visit to China in August 2024 highlighted the province’s special role in bilateral exchanges and cooperation. Vietnam is currently Guangdong’s largest trading partner in ASEAN, with bilateral trade between Guangdong and Vietnam accounting for about 20% of total China-Vietnam trade. In 2024, the figure surged to USD 56.3 billion, an increase of 16.6% compared to the previous year.

Ms. Zhang noted that Guangdong is promoting comprehensive reforms, striving for modernization, and advancing the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This will create new opportunities for cooperation with Vietnam and other countries worldwide. She pledged Guangdong’s commitment to working closely with Vietnam to boost two-way trade and investment, expand collaboration in emerging sectors, and ensure mutually beneficial outcomes for both sides, delivering tangible benefits to the peoples of the two nations.

Each Ao Dai and Qipao was handcrafted from soft silk fabric, with intricate details meticulously sewn by hand. The Ao Dai featured hand-embroidered motifs that vividly brought to life flowers and leaves, moving gracefully with the models.

The most symbolic piece was a red Ao Dai embroidered with “80 lotus flowers” and “34 crane wings,” representing the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day and the milestone of administrative reform reducing the nation’s provinces and municipalities to 34 after mergers.

In addition to the performances, the “Vietnamese cultural space” impressed guests with lotus flowers, Ao Dai, conical hats, hand-embroidered scarves, and the iconic slogan “Independence – Freedom – Happiness,” all evoking the depth of Vietnamese culture and national pride on this special day.

Guests also enjoyed a photo exhibition promoting Vietnam as a beautiful country of diverse natural landscapes, from majestic mountains to vast seas, spreading pride, confidence, and aspiration for a prosperous Vietnam entering a new era.

At the National Day banquet, international friends and overseas Vietnamese were treated to authentic Vietnamese cuisine, including Pho, spring rolls, etc, and Trung Nguyen coffee.
