On the afternoon of July 16, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held a press conference to launch the 8th edition of the “For Vietnamese Education” National Press Awards in 2025.

Delivering the opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc stated that 2025 marks the 8th year of the awards’ organization. The awards aim to recognize authors of journalistic works focusing on the education and training sector, while also honoring exemplary individuals and groups with outstanding contributions to the mission of nurturing future generations.

“Through this initiative, we can objectively recognize and evaluate the contributions of the education sector to the cause of nation-building and defense. It also helps society gain a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of education, thereby fostering support and solidarity with teachers across the country, and with the sector as a whole,” Deputy Minister emphasized.

Acknowledging and expressing gratitude for the vital role of the media in bringing education policies and initiatives into life, the Deputy Minister expressed hope that journalists, reporters, and collaborators from central and local media outlets nationwide will continue to actively participate and submit outstanding entries on education-related topics.

Journalist Trieu Ngoc Lam, Editor-in-Chief of the Education and Times Newspaper and Standing Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, shared that under the guidance of the Party, State, and Government as well as MOET leadership, numerous key policies have recently been introduced—most notably, the Law on Teachers. Other relevant legislation, including the Law on Education, Law on Higher Education, and Law on Vocational Education and Training, are currently being revised and updated.

Major ongoing initiatives include the implementation of the 2018 General Education Curriculum and reforms to national examinations. In addition, several pressing educational issues have garnered public attention, such as school health, school violence, and campus hygiene and safety.

“We hope to receive the creative perspectives and companionship of our fellow journalists on these critical educational matters,” said Mr. Lam. “Moreover, investigative and analytical pieces that drive social impact and positively influence youth, students, and the broader community are highly valued.”

The Editor-in-Chief affirmed that after seven years and now entering its eighth, the “For Vietnamese Education” Press Awards has cemented its reputation as a prestigious professional platform. It is a space to honor high-quality, inspirational journalism that champions education reform and advances a humane, progressive, and globally integrated system.

Regarding evaluation criteria, Mr. Lam noted that submissions must be truthful, accurate, and objective, with clear ideological and political direction. The content should address pressing educational issues of public interest, present discoveries or meaningful insights, offer practical guidance, and demonstrate high social value. The works should employ compelling and creative storytelling methods that contribute positively to the goals of education reform. Fictional content will not be considered.

Eligible topics include exemplary educational activities currently underway at all educational levels, from preschool to university, across localities; collectives and individuals with innovative achievements in teaching and learning aligned with Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW on fundamental and comprehensive education reform; Politburo Conclusion 91-KL/TW on continued implementation of Resolution 29; and Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. Heartfelt stories that leave a strong social impact and inspire public admiration for educators and their dedication to the country’s educational cause are also encouraged.

The prize will be awarded across four categories: print newspapers, online newspapers, radio, and television.

Journalistic works submitted for consideration must be presented in Vietnamese and published or broadcast on legally licensed media outlets, either domestically or internationally. Eligible entries must have been published or aired between September 5, 2024, and September 4, 2025.

Each entry may consist of a single article or a series of no more than five parts for print and online formats, or no more than five programs for radio and television (with each radio program not exceeding 60 minutes, and each television program not exceeding 120 minutes).

The organizing committee will not consider works that are still under review by relevant authorities, works that have already received awards in the National Press Awards or other specialized national journalism awards, or any works of a fictional nature.

One special prize will be awarded. For each media category, there will be one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, and several consolation prizes. Additionally, the committee will present two awards to exemplary individuals featured in the winning entries.

The deadline for submissions is September 30, 2025.

The National Press Awards for Vietnamese Education have been organized by the Ministry of Education and Training since 2018. The award aims to honor authors of outstanding journalistic works on the education sector, as well as collectives and individuals who have made significant contributions to the cause of education and training.

Through the award and the submitted journalistic works, the goal is also to promote and disseminate the achievements and progress of the education sector in the national development and defense process, to highlight exemplary role models, and to encourage and motivate teachers and education managers to continue dedicating themselves to the cause of education.
