17 returnees from Russia infected with COVID-19, Vietnam has 1,094 cases

Vietnam has recorded 17 new COVID-19 cases that all returned from Russia, bringing the country’s infection tally to 1,094, according to the Ministry of Health on September 29.

The number of coronavirus infections in Vietnam is expected to keep rising in the coming time as more and more Vietnamese citizens stranded overseas due to COVID-19 will be repatriated.

Patient 1,078 is 19-year old woman from Bich Hoa Commune, Thanh Oai District, Ha Noi.

Patient 1,080 is a 32-year old woman from Dak Mil District, Dak Nong Province.

Patient 1,081 is a 22 year-old woman from Cong Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District, Nghe An Province.

Patient 1,082 is a 35-year old woman from Cong Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District, Nghe An Province.

Patient 1,083 is a 49-year old woman from Tan Hung Commune, Vinh Bao District, Hai Phong City.

Patient 1,084 is a 26-year old man from Gia Phong Commune, Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province.

Patient 1,085 is a 24-year old man from Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh Province.

Patient 1,086 is a 21-year old man from Khuyen Nong Commune, Trieu Son District, Thanh Hoa Province.

Patient 1,087 is a 55-year old woman from Thanh Hoa city, Thanh Hoa Province.

Patient 1,088 is a 34-year old woman from Thanh Cong Commune, Khoai Chau District, Hung Yen Province.

Patient 1,089 is a 35-year old woman from Nghi Truong Commune, Nghi Loc District, Nghe An Province.

Patient 1,090 is a 35-year old man from Nghi Truong Commune, Nghi Loc District, Nghe An Province.

Patient 1,091 is a 24-year old man from Hong Bang Ward, Hai Phong City.

Patient 1,092 is a 23-year old man from Thanh Ha District, Hai Duong Province.

Patient 1,093 is a 23-year old man from Gia Binh District, Bac Ninh Province.

Patient 1,094 is a 33-year old man from Quy Hop District, Nghe An Province.

All the new patients are Vietnamese citizens who took flight QH9495 from Russia to Vietnam on September 26. They were all placed in quarantine as soon as they landed at Can Tho International Airport.

The citizens were then tested for COVID-19 and test results by the Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute showed they had contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The new cases brought the number of imported cases detected in Vietnam to 551 out of the total of 1,094 cases.

The number of coronavirus infections in Vietnam is expected to keep rising in the coming time as more and more Vietnamese citizens stranded overseas due to COVID-19 will be repatriated.

Meanwhile, the number of patients having gone on to make a full recovery from the disease has increased to 1,007 after 8 patients were discharged from hospital September 29.

September 29 also marked the 27th consecutive day Vietnam has registered no new locally transmitted cases.

The death toll caused by the disease remains at 35. Most of the fatalities suffered from underlying health issues such as chronic renal failure, chronic kidney failure, end-stage blood cancer, coronary syndrome, acute respiratory failure, polyarthritis, hypertension, diabetes (Types 2), sepsis, pneumonia, and multi-organ failure.
