This morning, January 20, the 14th National Party Congress opened in Hanoi.
At the National Convention Centre in the capital city of Hanoi, 1,586 delegates, representing over 5.6 million party members nationwide, gathered here, bringing the voices from grassroots, from challenging localities, and from dynamic economic centers.
Continuing aspirations with strategic vision
Each person holds a different position, yet all share a common belief in the path chosen by the Party and the future of the nation. With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development", the 14th Congress carries a significant mission.
This is not only a major political event of the country but also a pivotal Congress, opening a new era of development. Here, the national aspiration to "stand shoulder to shoulder with the powers of the five continents" is continued with strategic vision, concrete actions, and an overarching goal: For the happiness of the people.

With the theme "Under the glorious flag of the Party, united and determined to successfully achieve national development goals by 2030; strategic autonomy, resilience, confidence, advancing strongly in the era of national rise for peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, civilization, happiness, and steadily moving towards socialism", the Congress reviews the past journey, especially nearly 40 years of the country's Renovation, while planning the direction for the next five years and beyond. The goal is to lead the country to the aspiration of becoming a powerful nation by 2045.
In his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh expressed the desire for our country to "stand shoulder to shoulder with the powers of the five continents". Over time, this aspiration has become the common wish of the nation. The 14th Congress is where this aspiration is continued with profound practical summaries and high political determination.

Despite numerous challenges in the regional and global situation in recent times, Vietnam has not only overcome them but also laid important foundations for long-term development. The macroeconomy remains stable, with GDP growth in 2025 reaching 8.02%, the economy's scale exceeding half a trillion USD, and per capita income over 5,000 USD. Another notable highlight is the streamlined revolution of the apparatus. The reorganization of administrative units, merging of many localities, and implementation of two-level local government not only save resources but, more importantly, make the apparatus operate more efficiently, closer to the people, and better serve them.

The people's trust is further reinforced by "for the people" policies. The Party and State have decided to waive tuition fees for public school students from preschool to high school starting from the 2025-2026 academic year, while also supporting tuition for private schools and aiming for universal healthcare fee exemption by 2030-2035. The goal is for everyone to access basic healthcare services and annual health check-ups, reducing cost burdens and ensuring social welfare. Hundreds of major projects across the country were initiated and completed last year with a total investment of nearly 1.65 million billion VND, opening new roads, forming hospitals, schools, social housing, and creating new job opportunities for workers.
For the people, "prosperity, happiness of the people"
In this flow, the Draft Political Report presented at the 14th Congress holds special significance. The document clearly reflects the "for the people" ideology by placing people at the center of all development goals. From widely gathering opinions during the document construction phase to making "prosperity, happiness of the people" the ultimate goal of the renewal process.
The 14th National Party Congress also sets a target for strong economic growth with an average GDP of about 10% for the 2026-2030 period. This is not just a mere growth figure but is associated with improving living standards, employment, and income for the people.
Moreover, the roadmap to become a developed, high-income country by 2045 reflects the great aspiration of the entire nation in a long-term strategy. People have seen and felt the major policies coming to life!

The "for the people" spirit is also the core philosophy, the ultimate goal, running through all the Party's guidelines and policies. This goal aims for the people's well-being, happiness, and sustainable development of the country. From this foundation, the Renovation, construction, and defense of the Fatherland gain enduring vitality.
Thus, the 14th National Party Congress is not only a place for summarization but a starting point for a new development phase. Nearly 14 million comments on the draft Congress Document show the consensus between the Party's will and the people's heart.
This is the greatest source of strength for the country to overcome all challenges. As General Secretary To Lam shared, this Congress "truly is a convergence of wisdom, bravery, and aspiration, a Congress that speaks the truth, discusses what needs to be discussed, and decides what must be decided".
At the moment of the opening of the 14th National Party Congress, a unified pulse of the nation is clearly felt. It is the pulse of trust, aspiration, and determination to rise. Under the glorious Party flag, this pivotal Congress opens an era of development based on internal strength, intelligence, and the most solid foundation, which is taking the people as the root, the subject, and the goal of all renewal and development.
