Gyeongsangnam Province is a hub for heavy industry and manufacturing, notably in shipbuilding, precision engineering, defense, and electronics. It hosts the headquarters of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KASA) and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI). The province is a center for nuclear power auxiliary industries and is actively developing Small Modular Reactors (SMR), a new generation of clean energy technology. It also boasts the new Jinhae Port (Busan-Jinhae New Port), serving as a gateway for exports to the Pacific.
During the meeting, Consul General Doan Phuong Lan shared information about the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and urged Gyeongsangnam Province to continue strengthening cooperation with Vietnamese localities in areas where the province excels and Vietnam has demand, particularly in AI applications and science and technology in manufacturing.
On behalf of nearly 30,000 Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in Gyeongsangnam Province, the largest foreign community there, Consul General Doan Phuong Lan expressed gratitude for the province's support over the years. She affirmed that the Consulate General would assist the Vietnamese community in becoming an integral part of the province's socio-economic development and contribute to fostering cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two sides.
Governor Park Wan Soo extended his congratulations for the successful conduct of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, expressing confidence that the Congress will mark a historic milestone through national strategic planning, propelling Vietnam to greater development.
Governor Park Wan Soo agreed with Consul General Doan Phuong Lan's proposal to enhance cooperation between Gyeongsangnam Province and Vietnamese localities, noting that 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the cooperative relationship between Dong Nai Province and Gyeongsangnam Province.
Mr. Park Wan Soo affirmed that the Gyeongsangnam provincial government will continue to support and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community and other foreign communities to develop and integrate with the local society.
