Vietnamese scholar Nguyen Thanh Vinh honoured as Australia's most influential researcher in organic chemistry

WVR - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang has sent a congratulatory letter to Associate Professor Nguyen Thanh Vinh of the University of New South Wales, who has been recognized by The Australian as Australia's most influential researcher in the field of Organic Chemistry.

In the letter, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation and high regard for the outstanding scientific contributions of Associate Professor Nguyen Thanh Vinh, emphasizing that this is a well-deserved recognition for his dedicated, persistent, and passionate scientific endeavors. It also reflects the increasingly prominent integration capabilities and academic reputation of Vietnamese scholars in the international scientific community.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that the achievements of the Associate Professor will inspire the Vietnamese intellectual community in Australia, Vietnam, and other regions.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cordially invites Associate Professor Nguyen Thanh Vinh and his family to attend the 2026 Homeland Spring Program organized by the Ministry.

Vietnamese scholar Nguyen Thanh Vinh honoured as Australia's most influential researcher in organic chemistry

Nguyen Thanh Vinh was a specialized Chemistry student at Lam Son High School (Thanh Hoá), winning an International Chemistry Olympiad medal. He was also the runner-up in the first season of "Duong len dinh Olympia" and is currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of New South Wales.

His research focuses on organic catalysis, aromatic cation activation, synthesis of natural compounds and bioactive substances, asymmetric synthesis, and pharmaceutical chemistry.

The Australian, the country's largest-circulation daily, recently published the "2026 Research Magazine" ranking the most influential universities and researchers of 2026. The list is based on citation counts from scientific papers published in the top 20 journals of each field over five years, using data from Google Scholar.
