Vietnamese Consul General in Savannakhet attends Opening Ceremony of 2026–2027 Academic Year at Laos-Vietnam Friendship School
WVR - On the morning of September 5, the Laos - Vietnam Friendship School in Savannakhet Province solemnly held the Opening Ceremony for the new academic year 2026 - 2027. Vietnamese Consul General in Savannakhet Nguyen Van Dung attended the event, delivered a motivational speech to the teachers and students, and officially announced the start of the new school year.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Phongkhamhak Boutthavong, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Kaysone Phomvihane City, Savannakhet Province; Mr. Nguyen Luong, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Savannakhet Province; along with other delegates, parents, teachers, and nearly 1,000 students of the school.

Emphasizing the special role, position, and significance of the school, the Consul General affirmed that the Laos - Vietnam Friendship School in Savannakhet Province is a place that sows the seeds of knowledge, nurtures dreams and aspirations for generations of Lao students and Vietnamese community children in the area. It serves as a vibrant symbol, a bridge of knowledge and affection, significantly contributing to strengthening and tightening the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

The Consul General praised the school community for overcoming many difficulties, maintaining a spirit of solidarity, and continuously striving to improve the quality of teaching and learning. The school has successfully implemented the educational program of the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos while actively preserving and developing the Vietnamese language and cultural identity.

Expressing deep affection for the students, Consul General Nguyen Van Dung offered heartfelt advice. He recalled the core philosophy of the beloved leaders of the two nations: During his lifetime, President Kaysone Phomvihane always considered education as a fundamental foundation, playing a decisive role in raising people's intellectual standards, developing human resources, and building a new generation for the sustainable development of Laos. Beloved President Ho Chi Minh also advised: “For the benefit of ten years, plant trees; for the benefit of a hundred years, cultivate people.”

| The Laos - Vietnam Friendship School in Savannakhet Province is managed and operated by the Vietnamese Association in Savannakhet Province and was established in 2017. The school has over 50 teachers, both Vietnamese and Lao. Annually, it educates nearly 1,000 students across 27 classes, from primary to high school levels. The students include children of Vietnamese residents living in Laos and Lao students. Parents choose the school not only for its general education program but also for its strong foundation in the Vietnamese language and culture, paving the way for further studies in Vietnam in the future. The school's educational quality has been consistently maintained over the years, with students regularly winning awards in provincial and national academic competitions. Currently, the school is a shining example in the education sector of Savannakhet Province. |
