On October 2, in the city of Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, a welcome ceremony was held for Vietnamese trainees of the Viethoga – The German Way project.

The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Dac Thanh; Minister of Economy, Tourism, Agriculture, and Forestry of Saxony-Anhalt Sven Schulze, along with representatives from German agencies, businesses, and nearly 80 Vietnamese trainees currently studying in the region.

The Viethoga – The German Way project is a collaborative initiative between the Saxony-Anhalt Association of Restaurants and Hotels (DEHOGA), the Magdeburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), and the Magdeburg Chamber of Crafts (Handwerkkammer), bringing Vietnamese trainees to Germany for vocational training in hospitality, tourism, healthcare services, and engineering.

The program not only contributes to providing skilled, high-quality human resources for German businesses but also fosters friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Germany.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh praised the effective cooperation between Saxony-Anhalt and Vietnam in the fields of economy, trade, investment, particularly vocational training and labor cooperation. The Ambassador noted that Saxony-Anhalt was the first locality he visited after beginning his term in Germany.

The Ambassador expressed sincere gratitude to the local authorities, organizations, and businesses of Saxony-Anhalt for their support in training and assisting Vietnamese trainees in learning German and integrating well into the local community.

He emphasized that this is a vivid testament to the effective and mutually beneficial cooperation between Vietnam and German localities in vocational training and developing high-quality human resources.

The Ambassador stated that the Viethoga project has enabled young Vietnamese to access knowledge, modern working environments, and discipline, while also encouraging them to maintain the admirable qualities of Vietnamese people, becoming "future ambassadors of Vietnam", introducing and spreading the beauty of traditional Vietnamese culture to the German people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Sven Schulze expressed his delight in welcoming Vietnamese trainees and highlighted the importance of the cooperative relationship between Saxony-Anhalt and Vietnam over the years. He shared that he has many Vietnamese friends and has visited Vietnam, gaining a deeper understanding of its people and culture. According to Sven Schulze, Vietnamese culture shares many similarities with German culture, which is why when the idea of accepting foreign youth for vocational training arose, he immediately thought of young Vietnamese.

The success of the Viethoga project has proven his foresight. German businesses attending the ceremony also praised and highly appreciated the Vietnamese trainees, describing them as polite, courteous, hardworking, and always smiling. "Your presence makes the atmosphere in our company more joyful," Minister Sven Schulze said.

Two Vietnamese trainees currently undergoing vocational training in Saxony-Anhalt also shared their initial challenges upon arriving in Germany and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the businesses and teachers who have guided them, helping them overcome difficulties and motivating them to study and work more diligently. They affirmed that without such support, they would not have achieved their current success.

Concluding the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh, Minister Sven Schulze, and representatives of the Saxony-Anhalt government expressed confidence in the prospects for cooperation between the two sides. The delegates believe that the valuable experiences from the Viethoga project and the strong relationship between Saxony-Anhalt and Vietnam over the years will continue to open up many training opportunities for Vietnamese youth in Germany, creating a bridge between the two regions and contributing to fostering future cooperation.
