An Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) created by local designer Hoang Ly has been officially awarded a place in the Guinness Vietnam Records.
The Ao Dai titled “Dau An Thoi Gian” is a 189m-long gown which is studded with stones and embossed with 468 Vietnamese antique motifs.
Most notably, the designer draws inspiration from ancient motifs in the 17th century’s carved architecture style in combination with pearl mosaics on Thai Tuan silk.
It took a group of 15 designers and artisans based in Thuong Tin district five months to complete the dress, with the final outcome weighing up to 200 kilos.
Designer Hoang Ly revealed that through the dress, artists are keen to highlight and honour the nation’s traditional cultural identity.
Furthermore, she and her colleagues plans to bring the artwork around to several of the nation’s popular tourist destinations in order to promote Vietnamese culture and heritages to both domestic and international friends, she noted.
