During the meeting, Ambassador Trinh Duc Hai provided an overview of Vietnam's energy development strategy, emphasizing the diversification of supply sources and ensuring a balance between economic growth, energy security, and sustainable development goals.
The Ambassador shared that Vietnam is formulating a long-term energy strategy with a multi-decade vision, where nuclear power is being considered as a crucial component to provide stable base-load electricity, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and support the transition to green energy.

Vietnam places significant importance on the highest standards of nuclear safety, security, environmental protection, human resource development, and establishing a legal framework aligned with international practices. The country emphasizes a cautious and transparent approach, based on social consensus and the long-term benefits for the nation.
The Ambassador also affirmed that Vietnam welcomes extensive international cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy, especially with partners possessing advanced technology and experience, to enhance internal capabilities and ensure independence and autonomy in energy development.
Frédéric Cheneau noted that Vietnam is facing strategic long-term decisions, with the choice of technology and nuclear power deployment models having a direct impact on economic development, energy security, and national sovereignty for decades to come.
