Vietnam vows to faciliate ASEAN+3 countries' exchanges on post-coronavirus recovery plan

Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh made that statement during his phone call with ASEAN Secretary-General Lim Jock Hoi on May 6 on a plan to recover the economy and maintain the regional supply chain in the post-coronavirus period.
The pair also discussed measures to realize the directions of senior leaders at the recent Special ASEAN and ASEAN+3 Summits on the COVID-19 response.
As the current ASEAN Chair, Vietnam advocates and is willing to facilitate exchanges within the framework of the ASEAN+3 to make plans for recovering the economy and preventing negative impacts of COVID-19 as directed by senior leaders of ASEAN+3, affirmed Anh.
Both Anh and Lim Jock Hoi consented that ASEAN nations and three partners namely China, Japan and the Republic of Korea should work to quickly agree on contents of and approve the ASEAN+3 Ministerial-level Joint Statement on COVID-19 response in the upcoming time.

The Vietnamese Minister expressed his gratitude to the Secretary-General for backing Vietnam to uphold its role as the ASEAN Chair and the country’s proposals to push for the adoption of the joint statement of the 26th ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) Retreat in response to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the ASEAN-Japan Economic Ministers' Joint Statement on Initiatives on Economic Resilience in Response to the COVID-19 Outbreak.
He also referred to the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s decision permitting the temporary removal of restrictions on the export of medical equipment such as masks and resuming rice exports since May to ensure food supply in the ASEAN Community in accordance with the joint statements approved by the ASEAN Economic Ministers.
