33rd Diplomatic Conference: Ministries of National Defence, Public Security, and Foreign Affairs hold joint meeting

The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence, General Phan Van Giang; Minister of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang; and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung. Attending were leaders and heads of key units from the three ministries, as well as ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese Representative Missions abroad returning for the Diplomatic Conference.

The meeting focused on assessing the global and regional situation, the demands placed on defence, security, and foreign affairs in line with the spirit of the 14th Party Congress Resolution; evaluating the results of coordination among the three agencies since the signing of the Coordination Regulation in December 2025; and discussing directions and measures to enhance the quality and effectiveness of coordination to better meet the "key and regular" tasks of defense, security, and foreign affairs.

At the meeting, the Ministry of National Defence's presentation emphasised international integration and defence diplomacy within the overall framework of the Party's diplomacy, state diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy. The Ministry of Public Security's presentation highlighted the advantages and unique characteristics of people's public security diplomacy in implementing a comprehensive foreign affairs strategy at a new level. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' presentation underscored the results and directions for coordinating defence, security, and foreign affairs in implementing foreign affairs tasks.

In their concluding remarks, the three ministers affirmed that defense, security, and foreign affairs are closely linked in the country's revolutionary cause. The coordination among the three ministries concretizes the Party's viewpoint on tightly integrating economic-social development with defence, security, and foreign affairs. They emphasised that for the first time, the Party's 14th Congress Resolution affirms that foreign affairs and international integration, along with defence and security, are "crucial and regular" tasks of the entire political system.

Faced with the pressing demands of rapid and sustainable national development, as well as the need to safeguard the homeland early and from afar amid a world undergoing rapid, profound, and far-reaching changes, strengthening coordination among the Ministries of National Defence, Public Security, and Foreign Affairs has become more urgent than ever.

The three Ministers assessed that the coordination among the three ministries has achieved many important, outstanding, timely, tight, and effective results. They urged the units of the three ministries to continue deeply grasping and closely following the Party's and State's guidelines, the foreign policy of the 14th National Party Congress, and the Politburo's Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW. They should effectively implement the Coordination Regulation with a proactive spirit, "clear tasks and focal agencies", innovate coordination methods, exchange information, and strengthen coordination in research, advisory, strategic forecasting, foreign affairs activities, training, and fostering to meet the new demands placed on defence, security, and foreign affairs in the country's new development phase.
