Vietnam and Thailand enhance media cooperation

WVR - On the evening of December 1, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand organized a local media gathering to strengthen exchanges and deepen understanding between Vietnamese and Thai media partners, contributing to fostering friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung, Counselor Hoang Diem Hanh, and representatives from the resident agencies of Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Vietnam, and Nhan Dan Newspaper in Thailand.

On the Thai side, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Information Department, the Public Relations Department (PRD), the Thai Journalists Association (TJA), along with numerous journalists and representatives from media outlets such as NBT World, Radio Thailand, MCOT, Bangkok Post, Thai PBS, Matichon, and others were present.

At the event, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung highlighted significant milestones for Vietnam in 2025, such as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification, the 80th National Day, and the 80th anniversary of the diplomatic sector's establishment. He emphasized that this year also marks the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, underscoring the crucial role of journalism.

According to Pham Viet Hung, despite global uncertainties, Vietnam continues to maintain robust and sustainable economic growth. Vietnam is currently ranked 44th out of 139 countries in the Global Innovation Index 2025 and maintains diplomatic relations with all United Nations member states, including 42 Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships, Strategic Partnerships, and Comprehensive Partnerships, among them permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, the Group of Seven (G7), and most countries in the Group of Twenty (G20).

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung particularly emphasized that 2025 also marks a period when Vietnam is accelerating institutional reforms, streamlining the apparatus, and promoting national development. Vietnam is vigorously implementing key resolutions from the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation, international integration, institutional reform, and private sector development.

Regarding bilateral relations, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung affirmed that Vietnam-Thailand relations continue to thrive across all fields. In May, the two countries officially upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Ambassador highlighted that 2026 will be a particularly significant year for Vietnam-Thailand relations as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1976-2026).

Together with Thai ministries and partners, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand will prepare a series of meaningful activities, including delegation exchanges and commemorative events: cultural and artistic programs, economic and business forums, film exhibitions, youth and people exchanges, and sports competitions.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand highly values cooperation with Thai media agencies, emphasizing the crucial role of media in shaping public understanding, promoting transparency, and strengthening trust between the two countries.

In this spirit, the Embassy hopes to continue receiving cooperation from Thai media agencies to ensure accurate, truthful, and timely reporting on issues related to Vietnam.

During an open discussion session titled Vietnam through the Lens of Thai Media: Perspectives and Cooperation, representatives from Vietnamese news and press agencies in Thailand shared information about their organizations, structures, roles, and opportunities for cooperation with Thai media agencies.
