The Asian Banker Leadership Achievement Awards Programme has been launched since 2005, it is held every three years to honor prominent individual and institutional leadership in Asian financial services industry.

This is the most widely acknowledged award programme for leaders in financial sector in Asia Pacific region. Leadership Achievement Award is approved by economic experts according to banks’ financial reports for the three consecutive years.
Moreover, it is reviewed seriously by consultants who are prominent finance leaders through a strict 3 to 4-month-process among 250 regional institutions.
As 2020 is challenged by COVID-19 pandemic, The Asian Banker particularly focus on evaluating banks and leaders according to business performance, leadership capability and policies in response to the pandemic.
The “Best Managed Bank” award for Vietcombank and the “Leadership Achievement” award for the Chairman of Board of Directors of Vietcombank are to recognize outstanding leadership and efficient policies which have significantly supported customers and contributed to the community.
In the recognition of Vietcombank’s financial reports in 2020 and the banks’s effort in acting against Coronavirus by practical initiatives to support businesses, individuals and the communites, the Asian Banker presented Vietcomabnk and its leader the aforementioned awards.
In Viet Nam, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh - Chairman of Board of Directors of Vietcombank is the only leader in banking sector received this award by Asian Banker.
Proudly receiving awards for both organization and himself, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh - Member of Party Committee of the Centrally-run Businesses’ Sector, Vietcombank Party Committee secretary, Chairman of Board of Directors of Vietcombank said:
“This is a tremendous honor not only for me but also for more than 18.000 members working throughout Vietcombank; as they have accompanied Board of Directors to help Vietcombank achieve considerable positive results in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic and impressive financial reports.
2020 fluctuated with the COVID-19 pandemic which detrimentally affected economics, society and communication in a global scale. Under that circumstance, in order to support customers who were impacted negatively by the pandemic, Vietcombank has 5 times lauched the cutting interest rates scheme, supporting at approximately 4.000 billion VND.
With serious, timely and synchronous implementation, we expect to share difficulties with customers and assist them to overcome challenges, which would partly contribute to the national eco-socio sustainability and the fight against COVID-19.
