Viet Nam to confirm 3,977 more COVID-19 infections

The Ministry of Health said 3,977 new infections of COVID-19, including 27 imported cases, were detected in the country from 6am to 7pm on July 24, raising the total number of cases in the past 24 hours to 7,968.

Ho Chi Minh City, the country's largest pandemic hotspot, still accounted for a majority of the new cases with 3,326, followed by Dong Nai with 99, Ba Ria - Vung Tau 63, Binh Duong 62, Doong Thap 46, Binh Thuan 31, Dak Lak 24, Can Tho 23, Binh Dinh 12, Ben Tre 9, Ninh Thuan 8, An Giang 7, and Phu Yen 5.

Quang Ngai, Dak Nong and Ha Noi recorded four each, while three each reported in Vinh Phuc, Quang Nam, and Hau Giang. Ha Nam, Bac Lieu, Ha Giang, Lam Dong, Nghe An and Ca Mau detected two each, while one each were found in Gia Lai and Thua Thien – Hue.

The ministry said the national tally rose to 90,934, comprising 88,762 locally-transmitted cases and 2,172 imported ones.

An additional 2,047 patients were given the all-clear from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on July 24, raising the number of recoveries to 17,583.

Nearly 4.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered so far, with 4,125,156 people receiving one shot of COVID-19 vaccine, and 353,601 getting the full two doses.
