Viet Nam records 131 additional COVID-19 cases, 3,985 in total

The Ministry of Health announced 131 new COVID-19 infections since 12:00pm on May 15, including two imported and 129 in local quarantine facilities.

This means Viet Nam now has 2,522 domestic and 1,463 imported COVID-19 cases.

Among the active patients, 46 have tested negative to SARS-CoV-2 once, 25 twice, and 28 thrice. As many as 2,668 patients have been given the all-clear.

The death toll of the pandemic in Viet Nam is now 36. A 89-year-old woman with COVID-19 died today, becoming the country's 36th coronavirus death and the first in eight months.

"Patient 3839" died due to her underlying conditions, announced the sub-committee for treatment under the National Steering Board on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on May 15.

She was admitted to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases on May 13 and died on May 15 from respiratory failure, severe lung infection due to COVID-19, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
