Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan: Deepening the Vietnam-Egypt Comprehensive Partnership in a substantive and effective manner

At the meeting, the Vice President affirmed that Vietnam highly values Egypt’s important role and influence in the region, as well as the traditional friendship between the two countries. She expressed her pleasure at the positive development of bilateral relations, particularly since Vietnam and Egypt upgraded their ties to a Comprehensive Partnership during President Luong Cuong’s visit to Egypt in August 2025.

To further deepen bilateral relations in a substantive and effective manner, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan proposed that the two sides soon promote exchanges of delegations, particularly high-level ones.

She also conveyed Party General Secretary and President To Lam’s invitation to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to visit Vietnam.

Emphasising that Vietnam and Egypt have comparable population sizes and economies, the Vice President proposed that the two sides make better use of their respective advantages, strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation, and promote negotiations on a Vietnam-Egypt Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

She also called for continued mutual support at international and regional multilateral forums.

The Vice President affirmed that Vietnam stands ready to promote relations between ASEAN and the League of Arab States and the African Union.

Appreciating Mr. Eissa’s role and contributions as Chairman of the Vietnam-Egypt Parliamentary Friendship Group during his tenure as a member of the Egyptian Parliament, she expressed her hope that Deputy Prime Minister Eissa would continue to serve as a good friend and bridge for promoting cooperation between the two countries, particularly between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the Egyptian Parliament.

For his part, Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister Eissa affirmed that the Egyptian people deeply admire Vietnam’s victory in its struggle for national independence and reunification, as well as the country’s socio-economic development achievements today.

Building on the sound traditional friendship between the two countries, Deputy Prime Minister Eissa stressed that Egypt wishes to further strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in a wide range of areas, including agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, digital transformation, education and training, and renewable energy.

Concurring with the proposals put forward by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, the Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that, upon returning home, he would discuss the matter with relevant ministers in order to soon translate the vast potential of bilateral relations into concrete, mutually beneficial projects.
