Over 80 participants attended an online training course to improve the capacity of teaching Vietnamese for overseas Vietnamese teachers in Northeastern Thailand. |
Held on June 21–22, the training was successfully organized by Vietnam Education Publishing House in collaboration with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen. The program focused on strengthening the pedagogical skills of overseas Vietnamese teachers.
In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Consul General in Khon Kaen Dinh Hoang Linh praised the program’s professionalism, thorough preparation, and strong sense of responsibility. He expressed appreciation to the Vietnam Education Publishing House for its ongoing support for Vietnamese language education in Thailand over the years.
“Though the training only lasted two days, it was imbued with profound affection and a sense of responsibility from the homeland. Such programs help sustain and spread the flame of Vietnamese among younger generations abroad, nurturing their connection to their roots,” he emphasized.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Member of the Board of Members and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Education Publishing House, affirmed the organization’s long-term commitment to supporting overseas teachers. “We aim to contribute to building a sustainable, united Vietnamese community abroad that preserves and celebrates Vietnamese cultural identity,” he said.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Mai, Deputy Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) applauded the initiative and dedication of the Consulate General and the Publishing House in delivering a high-quality, practical program aligned with the community's ongoing efforts to preserve the Vietnamese language.
On this occasion, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Mai also thanked individuals and organizations, particularly the Vietnam Education Publishing House for their active contributions to the implementation of the Vietnamese Language Appreciation Day initiative. These efforts include the development of Vietnamese community libraries, compilation of learning materials, creation of digital resources, teacher training, and promotion of Vietnamese language education in countries with large Vietnamese populations.
She expressed confidence that through continuous training, professional networking, and appropriate learning materials, Vietnamese would not only be preserved but also thrive among younger generations abroad—not just as a language, but as an expression of national identity and pride.
In a warm and respectful atmosphere, delegates from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Udon Thani Rajabhat University (Thailand), and other institutions shared insights, offered encouragement, and exchanged experiences on promoting Vietnamese language teaching overseas.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Lan Trung, Chairman of the Vietnam Linguistics Association and Vice President and General Secretary of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese, emphasized the urgent need among overseas teachers for updated knowledge, modern teaching methodologies, and pedagogical skills tailored to multilingual, multicultural contexts.
“This program not only provides specialized knowledge, especially in phonetics, but also boosts teachers' confidence in organizing classes and connecting with students, particularly those born and raised abroad. Sustained cooperation between domestic institutions and overseas educators is essential to building a resilient ecosystem for Vietnamese language teaching outside the country,” he noted.
Throughout the two-day course, participants engaged in hands-on activities, direct exchanges, and established a network for ongoing professional support. Many teachers shared their heartfelt appreciation, calling it a rare opportunity to be both re-inspired and professionally equipped.
At the conclusion of the program, a representative from the Vietnam Education Publishing House reaffirmed their long-term commitment to overseas Vietnamese communities—through not only books and learning materials but also cultural responsibility and educational dedication.
The training program is a practical contribution to Vietnamese Language Appreciation Day (September 8), and reflects Vietnam’s broader policy of preserving and promoting its language and culture among overseas communities in the era of global integration. As part of the training, the Vietnam Education Publishing House introduced a rich, modern, and free Vietnamese language learning ecosystem, including: – A user-friendly digital textbook system accessible at: taphuan.nxbgd.vn – Educational television programs such as “Hello Vietnamese” and “Magical Vietnamese”, currently broadcast on VTV4 and its digital platforms. In addition to the materials, the program featured in-depth content on Vietnamese phonetics, teaching methods, classroom organization for mixed-level groups, and literary appreciation using traditional folk literature—providing a practical, systematic, and inspiring foundation for overseas Vietnamese language educators. |
