The province hopes to receive more than 1.7 million tourists in the first half of 2017.

Chairman of Thua Thien-Hue province’s People Committee Nguyen Van Cao said underscored the need for the province to further improve diplomatic activities on tourism and assure safety for tourists.

A number of tourist products and community tours are being offered this season.

In the way to achieve that, the local authorities have carried out a spat of stimulus measures, paving the way for travel agents, hotels, restaurants and tourism sites to make their products competitive. They have also given due attention to bettering local infrastructure and services.

Besides conventional tours to the Hue Imperial Citadel, a world cultural heritage, new tourist types of home-stays and tours to historical and cultural museums are offered to visitors.

Thua Thien-Hue is a city in central Vietnam that was the seat of Nguyen Dynasty emperors and the national capital from 1802–1945. A major attraction is its vast, 19th-century Citadel, surrounded by a moat and thick stone walls. It encompasses the Imperial City, with palaces and shrines; the Forbidden Purple City, once the emperor's home; and a replica of the Royal Theater. During the American War, Hue suffered from heavy fighting. The tombs themselves saw little damage, but the Citadel and central city were badly damaged during the Tet Offensive of 1968. The complex of tombs, pagodas and palaces throughout Hue and its surrounds has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
