The sacred Flag-Raising moment of Vietnam's UN peacekeepers

WVR - In the Abyei region, the flag-raising ceremony of the 4th Engineering Unit is not just a military ritual, but a symbol of iron discipline, a solemn oath, and an unwavering spirit directed towards the beloved homeland.

Overcoming the harsh conditions of Africa, Vietnam's blue-helmeted peacekeepers are diligently constructing robust bridges, vital roads, and well-equipped classrooms.

Moreover, they are silent ambassadors of Vietnamese culture, sowing seeds of friendship and understanding between the two nations.

The flag-raising ceremony is a poignant moment for each soldier to direct their soul towards their homeland, distant family, and the noble cultural and spiritual values that have shaped the Vietnamese identity.

In their immaculate uniforms, under Abyei's sunlight, each flag-raising gesture is performed solemnly and decisively.

The resounding National Anthem echoes across the vast space, blending with the wind and familiar sounds of this land, creating a unique symphony. It is the sound of patriotism, sacrifice, and faith in a brighter future.

Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Van Cuong, Commander of the 4th Engineering Unit, emphasized: “Maintaining strict military discipline is not only a responsibility but also a steadfast will, a solid foundation for the unit to excel in all international missions.”

For soldiers far from home, thousands of kilometers away, the flag-raising ceremony becomes a steadfast spiritual anchor. It reminds them of the noble purpose of peacekeeping and their responsibility to the country and the international community. In that moment, all difficulties, challenges, and homesickness seem to fade away, leaving only determination and iron will.

Lieutenant Nguyen Thanh Tien, from the Protection Unit, emotionally shared: “As a young party member recently admitted, setting foot in a distant land for an international mission, I deeply feel the honour of being part of the Party, carrying the mission of peacekeeping.

The first flag-raising ceremony far from the homeland brings pride and a powerful source of motivation, fueling the resolve for me and my comrades to overcome all challenges and excel in our noble international mission.”

After the flag-raising ceremony, the soldiers enthusiastically return to their daily tasks. They continue building roads, repairing schools and hospitals, bringing hope and new life to the local people.
