On January 7, at the briefing on the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam to foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations in Vietnam, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh, delivered a speech sharing expectations for the Congress. The World and Vietnam Report published the speech:
On the occasion of the solemnly held 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on behalf of the Party, State, and people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, I would like to extend ourwarmest congratulations to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the leaders of the Party and the State, and all cadres, Party members, and the fraternal people of Vietnam.
The 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam takes place in a particularly important juncture, marking a new stage of development for Vietnam after 80 years of national founding and four decades of implementing the Doi Moi (Renovation) policy, deep international integration, and proactive participation in regional and global processes. The Congress is not only a major political event for Vietnam, but also one of great significance to international friends, including neighboring countries, traditional and strategic partners of Vietnam.
We highly appreciate the great and historically significant achievements the Party, State, and people of Vietnam have attained during the past term, particularly in maintaining political and social stability, restoring and developing the economy, improving people's liveing standards, and continuously enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena. These achievements further affirm the correct, steadfast, and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, as well as the unity and solidarity of the entire Vietnamese nation.
We believe that, with the spirit of "Unity – Democracy – Discipline – Innovation – Development," the 14th National Congress will set forth correct strategic directions, creating a solid foundation for Vietnam to enter a new stage of development that is faster and more sustainable, successfully achieving the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and high middle income, towards the vision of 2045.
We hope and are confident that, on the basis of the strategic orientations determined by the 14th National Congress, the great friendship, sepcial solidearity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos will continue to be strengthened and developed even more strongly, for the practical benefit of the people of both countries, and for peace, stability, and sustainable development of the region.
Once again, we wish the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam great success.
