Standing Deputy FM Nguyen Minh Vu receives delegation from China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

WVR - On the afternoon of July 15, at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu received Mr. Wei Ran, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, who is on a working visit to Vietnam from July 14-17, 2025.

At the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister highly appreciated the visit and working trip to Vietnam by the delegation from the Foreign Affairs Office of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The Deputy Foreign Minister stated that the visit held great significance, taking place in the context of increasingly positive developments in bilateral relations, especially following the historic visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping in May this year. In addition, this year marks a vibrant series of activities between the two countries to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Year of Humanistic Exchange.

The Deputy Foreign Minister believes that the working trip has made an important contribution to implementing the outcomes of the highly successful visit to Vietnam by Secretary of the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Chen Gang in February this year.

Both sides agreed that relations between Vietnamese localities and Guangxi have achieved important and encouraging results. Exchanges between local Party organizations have been maintained and strengthened, political trust has deepened, economic and trade cooperation continues to be a highlight, land border management has been closely coordinated, cross-border transportation connectivity has seen many positive outcomes, and people-to-people exchanges as well as cooperation in culture, education, and tourism have made substantial progress.

Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu and Director of the Foreign Affairs Office Wei Ran agreed that in the time ahead, both sides will continue to regularly maintain visits and exchanges between leaders of border localities to enhance mutual understanding and trust, thereby strengthening the friendship between the two sides. Along with this, efforts will be made to innovate and improve the effectiveness of practical, mutually beneficial cooperation.

Mr. Wei Ran expressed the desire to welcome Vietnamese leaders to attend the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) scheduled for this September. He also expressed his hope that both sides will accelerate hard connectivity in terms of high-speed railways and expressways, promote infrastructure connectivity at border gates, and upgrade soft connectivity through smart customs cooperation. Furthermore, he called for the expedited implementation of the pilot smart border gate model at the Huu Nghi– Youyi Guan area.

The two sides expressed their belief that, building on the sound foundation of cooperation, exchanges and collaboration between Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities and Guangxi will see new breakthroughs in the time ahead, bringing practical benefits to the people of both sides and making tangible contributions to the Vietnam–China friendship and cooperation.
