Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son receives Egyptian Ambassador Amal Abdel Kader Elmorsi Salama for a farewell visit
On the afternoon of July 4, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Ms Amal Abdel Kader Elmorsi Salama, Ambassador of Egypt to Vietnam, on the occasion of her farewell visit marking the end of her term.

During the meeting, Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son congratulated and highly appreciated Ambassador A. Salama’s significant contributions during her tenure in Vietnam, particularly her efforts in coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Vietnamese ministries and agencies to successfully arrange high-level visits between the two countries, organize a series of meaningful events marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Egypt diplomatic relations (1963–2023), and prepare for upcoming delegation exchanges.
Recalling that President Ho Chi Minh visited Egypt three times, Deputy PM and Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that this serves as an important foundation for further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the time ahead.
He proposed that the two sides continue to promote high-level and all-level contacts and delegation exchanges, enhance trade and investment cooperation, and accelerate the negotiation and signing of a Vietnam-Egypt Free Trade Agreement (FTA), aiming to raise bilateral trade turnover to 1 billion USD in the near future, identifying these areas as key pillars of the bilateral relationship.
He also called for continued coordination and mutual support between the two countries at multilateral forums.

Ambassador A. Salama expressed her gratitude to the Party, State, and Government of Vietnam for creating favorable conditions and providing support that enabled her to successfully fulfill her duties.
She emphasized that Egypt’s senior leaders attach great importance to the traditional friendship between the two countries and wish to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation with Vietnam.

Ambassador Salama affirmed that in her new role, she will continue to promote close coordination between relevant Egyptian agencies and Vietnam to advance the comprehensive partnership between the two sides, especially in potential areas such as trade, investment, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
The Egyptian Ambassador highly valued Vietnam’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region and the world. She expressed admiration for and congratulated Vietnam on its impressive socio-economic development achievements in recent years.
The diplomat also expressed confidence that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam will continue to achieve even greater successes in building a prosperous and strong nation, contributing to regional and global peace and stability.
On this occasion, Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son conveyed a letter of invitation from President Luong Cuong to Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi to attend the Signing Ceremony of the United Nations Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes, to be held on October 25-26 in Hanoi.
Ambassador A. Salama expressed her sincere thanks and affirmed that she would promptly deliver the invitation to the Egyptian President.
