At the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang emphasized that over its 36 years of formation and development, APEC has affirmed its role as the leading economic cooperation mechanism in the Asia-Pacific region, acting as a driving force for economic integration and sustainable, inclusive development across the region.
As an active member, Vietnam has always attached great importance to APEC cooperation and proactively contributed to joint efforts to realize the APEC Vision 2040 for an open, dynamic, resilient, and peaceful Asia-Pacific community. According to Deputy Foreign Minister Minh Hang, this is clearly reflected in Vietnam’s contributions since joining APEC in 1998, including the proud achievements of APEC Years 2006 and 2017, as well as the proactive and determined spirit of Vietnam at all levels—from central to local—in preparing for and organizing APEC Year 2027.
Deputy Foreign Minister Minh Hang also highly appreciated the close cooperation and effective support of the APEC Secretariat for Vietnam over the years, especially when Vietnam hosted APEC in 2006 and 2017. To continue preparations for a successful APEC Year 2027, the Deputy Foreign Minister proposed that the Secretariat continue to support Vietnam in developing key content, priority themes, as well as communication activities and capacity-building—especially in promoting areas of current APEC interest such as innovation, digital transformation, green transition, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce.
