In his Facebook post in Korean and Vietnamese on December 16, Moon said that he felt the two countries have become closer friends after seeing Vietnamese football fans holding aloft the national flags of Vietnam and the RoK.

He recalled his trip to Vietnam in March when he met with Park and the football players.

Also, he expressed his hope that both countries will continue building their special friendship to open up a prosperous future.

Moon’s post attracted nearly 4,000 comments and over 200 shares after two hours publishing.

Vietnam held the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup trophy again after 10 years after tying with Malaysia 2-2 in the first-leg final of the AFF Cup on December 11 and beating Malaysia 1-0 in the second-leg final in Hanoi on December 15 night.
