This marks the second time Luu Hong Quang has performed the entire cycle in Vietnam, following its debut in 2022. In this return, he approaches the work with a new depth, aiming to explore its subtle and expressive layers, rather than merely focusing on technical challenges.
The program is part of the VIPCF Laureate & Master Series organized by the Vietnam International Piano Competition & Festival, and also commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam National Academy of Music (1956–2026), where the artist began his artistic journey.
Composed over three phases from 1826 to 1852, the Transcendental Études are considered one of Franz Liszt's most extraordinary achievements.
More than just technical exercises, each étude unveils an independent musical world, rich in imagery and emotion, from natural landscapes and nostalgic memories to legends and the fierce power of nature. Here, transcendental technique becomes a vehicle for music to tell stories, painting “symphonic poems” on the piano.
The concert is scheduled for 8 PM on May 8 at the Grand Concert Hall, Vietnam National Academy of Music (77 Hào Nam, Hanoi), with the support of organizing and artistic partners, including Bösendorfer and Đức Trí Piano Boutique.
With “Transcendental Sounds”, Luu Hong Quang not only delivers a technically masterful performance but also embarks on an artistic journey rich in exploration, where the piano becomes a “miniature orchestra”, guiding listeners through deep layers of emotion and imagination.
The artist shares that Franz Liszt's music embodies a fusion of poetry, literature, and sound into a unified expressive language.
| Luu Hong Quang is one of Vietnam's prominent young pianists on the international stage, highly regarded for his solid technique, delicate emotion, and deeply expressive performance style. Not only has he won numerous awards both domestically and internationally, but he has also performed with many renowned orchestras worldwide, such as the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (Australia), the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra (UK), orchestras from Florence (Italy), and the Szolnok Symphony Orchestra (Hungary). Recently, he has held solo concerts in New Zealand, Australia, China, Hungary, and Austria. Annually, he returns to his homeland to participate in regular concert projects. |
