Homeland Spring 2026: Large gathering of Overseas Vietnamese and Bangladeshi friends

WVR - On March 6, in Dhaka, in harmony with the vibrant Spring of the nation in the early days of the new year,, the Vietnamese Embassy and the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community in Bangladesh solemnly organized the "Homeland Spring 2026" program with the attendance of a large number of overseas Vietnamese and Bangladeshi friends.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong extended New Year greetings to all overseas Vietnamese and distinguished guests, emphasizing that this is an occasion for the Vietnamese community in Bangladesh to meet, share, and celebrate the traditional Tet in a warm and united atmosphere.

The Ambassador informed the community about Vietnam's notable achievements in 2025. Despite global challenges, Vietnam achieved positive results in socio-economic development. In 2025, Vietnam's economy reached over 514 billion USD, with a GDP growth of 8.02%, total import-export turnover estimated at 930 billion USD, and foreign direct investment attraction reaching 38.4 billion USD.

Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong highlighted that the successful organization of the 14th Party Congress at the beginning of 2026 holds special significance, setting strategic directions and laying a solid foundation for Vietnam to enter a "new era of advancement" with the goal of making the nation more prosperous, civilized, and happy. Major policies on foreign affairs, international integration, state and private economic development, science and technology, and Vietnamese cultural development have been issued and implemented.

Additionally, the Party continues to affirm that the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, a crucial resource for national construction and development. The spirit and determination to develop the country and make breakthroughs into a new era are very high, requiring the joint efforts of overseas Vietnamese, including the community in Bangladesh.

Regarding bilateral relations, the Ambassador appreciated the positive developments in the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bangladesh. Diplomatic activities have been regularly and effectively implemented across almost all fields. Economic and trade cooperation is always considered a highlight and a focal area of cooperation between the two governments.

The total bilateral trade turnover in 2025 reached approximately 1.2 billion USD, indicating the vast potential for cooperation between the business communities of both countries. The Ambassador also affirmed that, in any circumstances, Vietnam remains a loyal friend to Bangladesh.

On this occasion, the Ambassador expressed gratitude for the support and valuable sentiments from Bangladeshi friends towards the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Bangladesh over the past time. The Ambassador congratulated the positive achievements of the local Vietnamese community, contributing to preserving Vietnamese culture and language. He also hoped that the Vietnamese community in Bangladesh would continue to strive to build a strong, successful, united community that supports each other, complies with local laws, and continues to be an important bridge contributing to fostering the good friendship between Vietnam and Bangladesh.

On behalf of the Vietnamese community in Bangladesh, Mr. Do Van Trong, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community in Bangladesh, expressed gratitude to the Embassy for its constant care, companionship, and organization of meaningful activities. He affirmed that the Vietnamese community in Bangladesh is always proud of the country's cultural traditions and will strive to build a united community, making practical contributions to the country's development and the Vietnam-Bangladesh friendship.

In the joyful and warm atmosphere of the Spring day, the community and distinguished guests enjoyed a space rich in Vietnamese cultural identity with artistic performances, folk games, and traditional Vietnamese Tet dishes.

The "Homeland Spring 2026" program was a great success, contributing to strengthening community bonds and affirming that the Embassy is always a common home for overseas Vietnamese.
