The newly established Phu Tho Province is formed from the merger of three provinces: Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh, and Phu Tho, covering a natural area of over 9,300 km² with a population exceeding 4 million people, comprising 148 administrative units at the commune level. The administrative-political center of the province is located in Việt Trì. It is considered one of the leading localities in terms of economic scale and budget revenue in the country.
Expansive space, greater advantages
The new Phu Tho Province has expansive space and greater, more diverse advantages, bordering the most localities in the country, including the capital, Hanoi. Its transportation system is widely connected inter-regionally, with an economic scale of over 354 trillion VND, ranking 6th out of 34 provinces nationwide, covering an area of 9,361 km², ranking 15th nationwide; a population of over 4 million, ranking 7th; and budget revenue ranking 11th nationwide...
Alongside well-planned transportation advantages, the new Phu Tho also possesses a diverse and potential-rich economic space. The eastern region (formerly part of Vinh Phuc) is becoming a hub for industrial-service-urban development with major industrial parks like Thang Long Vinh Phuc, Ba Thien, Nam Binh Xuyen, Nam Phuc Yen...
Industries such as electronics, automobiles, precision mechanics, logistics, and supporting industries are thriving, significantly contributing to the budget and job creation.
The central area of Phu Tho serves as the administrative-political-cultural center of the province. Urban, educational, healthcare, and cultural infrastructure is being synchronously invested, gradually building a model of a smart, livable city with regional influence.

The western and southwestern regions (the former Hoa Binh area and Phu Tho's mountainous districts) are identified as zones for agricultural-forestry development, medicinal herbs, and eco-tourism. This area has favorable natural conditions for developing organic agriculture, cultivating valuable medicinal plants, exploiting hot mineral springs (such as Kim Boi, Thanh Thuy), and developing community tourism models associated with the Muong, Dao, and Tay ethnic identities...
Many new development opportunities have been opened, creating more favorable conditions for building Phu Tho into one of the centres for industry, services, logistics, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, heritage tourism, and eco-tourism. It aims to be a hub for national and international events, achieving high economic growth, with science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and the private economy as the main drivers and resources for growth.
Additionally, the key factor enhancing the appeal of the new Phu Tho is a decisive and practically experienced government in investment promotion. The provincial government commits to accompanying businesses from survey, project planning, implementation to operation. Departments and sectors are intensifying administrative procedure reforms, implementing a "one-stop-shop" mechanism to ensure transparency and efficiency.
The highest investment incentives as per legal regulations, from corporate income tax exemptions and reductions, land rental incentives, to workforce training support, especially focusing on high-tech sectors, will be a crucial "boost". The spirit of "going ahead, welcoming, and accompanying investors" is not just a slogan but has become a consistent action motto of the new Phu Tho administration.

Investors ready for large-scale projects
In the context of global economic fluctuations, Phu Tho emerges as a bright spot on Vietnam's foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction map. With relentless efforts to improve the investment environment, reform administrative procedures, and policies accompanying businesses, the province has achieved impressive results, contributing positively to sustainable development goals.
Specifically, in the first nine months of 2025, the province attracted 912.5 million USD, up 39% year-on-year, reaching 86.2% of the annual target. Besides attracting FDI, domestic direct investment (DDI) also recorded impressive growth, with 62.3 trillion VND attracted, nearly three times higher than the same period in 2024, achieving 72.2% of the annual target.
This indicates that large domestic and international corporations see development opportunities in Phu Tho and are ready to invest in large-scale projects, contributing to the province's industrial, service, and tourism sectors.
Building on this success, Phu Tho is implementing many strategic solutions. The province prioritizes attracting supporting industry projects for the automotive, electronics, telecommunications sectors, and high-tech projects. Investors from Japan, Republic of Korea, the European Union (EU), the United States... with financial strength and experience, will be prioritized.
The province focuses on attracting high-tech, semiconductor industry, clean energy, new materials, and environmentally friendly projects. The technical infrastructure system within and outside industrial parks is continuously invested and upgraded synchronously, meeting all requirements for electricity, water, telecommunications, and environment. Maintaining a selective investment attraction approach linked with sustainable development, the province not only invites new investors but also cares for and accompanies existing investors to continue expanding, spreading confidence in the province's investment environment.
Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong said: “Phu Tho stands before a great opportunity due to its proximity to the capital Hanoi, Noi Bai International Airport, and the intersection of plains, midlands, and mountains, creating geographical, economic, and cultural advantages. However, to fully capitalize on this opportunity, the province must proactively change its promotion approach, not chasing quantity but prioritizing quality, high-tech, and environmentally friendly projects.”
The province will continue to strongly reform administrative procedures, create a transparent and open investment environment; simultaneously enhance the quality of industrial park infrastructure, and train human resources to meet the stringent requirements of strategic investors. Alongside, the Land of the Ancestors also pays special attention to social welfare. The province has achieved the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, providing jobs for nearly 50,000 people, and caring for policy beneficiaries.
With determination and effort, Phu Tho is laying a solid foundation to aim for the goal of becoming a dynamic and sustainably developing industrial center in the region. It is gradually affirming the image of a harmonious and stable land for investors.
