Outstanding works honoured at 2024 Songwriting Contest on Ethnic Minorities

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony in Hanoi on December 31 to summarise and award the contest on composing songs on ethnic minorities in 2024.

After nearly four months since its launch, the Organising Committee received 275 songs from 176 authors nationwide, representing the Northwest, Central Highlands and Southwest regions.

The Organising Committee selected 17 works to award prizes, including 2 First prizes, 2 Second prizes, 2 Third prizes, 6 Consolation prizes and 5 Open prizes.

Speaking at the closing and award ceremony, Pham Ngoc Khoi, Vice President of the Vietnam Musicians Association, Head of the Jury, said in a short time, the contest has received the participation of professional and non-professional authors.

The songs participating in the contest all adhere to the contest’s objectives, are artistic and popular with diverse and rich themes, imbued with the national identity of regions across the country, praising the contributions of the Party and Uncle Ho to the people of all ethnic groups; praising the traditional beauty of the homeland; the musical language is rich in colour, imbued with the folk music of ethnic minorities, he noted.
