During the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man warmly welcomed Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and the high-level delegation of the Lao Government on their official visit to Vietnam and participation in the ASEAN Future Forum 2026. He emphasized that the Prime Minister's first official visit to Vietnam in his new term vividly demonstrates the special Vietnam-Laos relationship, contributing to creating new momentum and deepening the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic connection between the two Parties, States, and peoples. On this occasion, through the Lao Prime Minister, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man conveyed his warm regards and best wishes to General Secretary, President Thongloun Sisoulith, National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane, and other senior Lao leaders.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated the Lao Party, State, and people on their significant, comprehensive, and historically meaningful achievements in recent times. He expressed confidence that under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the supervision of the National Assembly, and the administration of the Government led by Comrade Sonexay Siphandone, the Lao people will successfully implement the Resolution of the 12th Congress and the 10th National Socio-Economic Development Plan, continuously enhancing the role and position of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in the region and internationally. Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that, with a spirit of close comradeship and brotherhood, the Party, State, and National Assembly of Vietnam always stand shoulder to shoulder, supporting Laos' renewal process.

Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone sincerely thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to meet the delegation. He warmly congratulated Comrade Tran Thanh Man on his re-election as Chairman of the 16th National Assembly and conveyed the warm regards and official invitation to visit Laos from National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane. On behalf of the Lao Party and Government, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone expressed pride and congratulated the Vietnamese people on their significant, comprehensive achievements under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the close supervision of the National Assembly. These achievements have contributed to Vietnam's continued high economic growth, improved living standards, and maintained social security and order, with Vietnam's role and position in the region and internationally becoming increasingly prominent.

The two leaders expressed their delight at the positive development of Vietnam-Laos cooperation in recent times across all fields, from politics, diplomacy, security-defense to economy, culture, education, and local cooperation. They emphasized the importance of the two sides agreeing to incorporate the "strategic connection" into the overall relationship between the two countries, reflecting the long-term vision and strong political commitment of the high-level leaders of the two Parties and countries in developing the special Vietnam-Laos relationship in the new phase.

Congratulating the results of the talks between the two Prime Ministers and the cooperation between the two Governments in recent times, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that, based on the special relationship, the National Assemblies of Vietnam and Laos have been actively coordinating to implement agreements between the two legislative bodies in various forms. They maintain regular delegation exchanges, share experiences in legislative work, supreme supervision, and jointly supervise the implementation of key cooperation agreements and projects between the two countries.

In the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue increasing political trust, maintaining high-level visits and contacts at all levels through Party, State, National Assembly, People's Council channels, and people-to-people exchanges. They will enhance professional cooperation, share experiences between the Ethnic Council, Committees, and Friendship Parliamentary Groups of the two countries in legislative work, supervision, and decision-making on important national issues. They will continue to support each other at regional and international parliamentary forums such as AIPA, IPU, and APF to protect the common interests of the two countries and the region. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will closely coordinate with the Lao National Assembly to create a solid legal framework, accompany and support the two Governments in successfully implementing the committed cooperation programs.

Besides legislative cooperation, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone also spent considerable time discussing solutions to promote economic-trade cooperation commensurate with the political relationship. The two sides agreed to focus on resolving difficulties and obstacles to accelerate the progress of infrastructure connectivity projects, energy, trade, and investment, including expressways and railways connecting to the sea. They will create favorable conditions for businesses from both sides to invest and conduct business in clean energy, high-tech agriculture, and border trade.

The two sides agreed to closely coordinate in organizing activities to commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in 2027, spreading the tradition of friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos to all people, especially the younger generation.

Expressing thanks for the timely and effective support that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam have provided to Laos over the years, the Lao Prime Minister affirmed that the Lao Government will closely coordinate with the Lao National Assembly and relevant Vietnamese agencies, especially with the Government and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, to direct relevant ministries and sectors of the two countries to continue effectively implementing high-level agreements and the results of the 48th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries, contributing to nurturing the everlasting, sustainable Vietnam-Laos relationship.
