Besides, the Ministry is accelerating work on 23 other projects with the aim of putting them into operation during this year, including two component projects in the North-South Expressway East, Phase 1 – the Dien Chau-Bai Vot and Cam Lam-Vinh Hao expressways.
At the same time, the ministry is working hard towards completing necessary papers on investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project to submit to authorised authorities for approval. It will also push ahead with preparations for investment in major national railway routes such as Ho Chi Minh City-Can Tho, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, Long Thanh-Thu Thiem and Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong.
Also this year, the Transport Ministry is assisting localities in completing procedures for 11 expressway projects.
The Ministry is taking drastic and concerted solutions to promote the disbursement of public investment capital, help ministries, sectors and local administrations remove obstacles in ground clearance, and supervise the working pace of contractors and consultants in key projects of national and sectoral importance.
Towards the goal of completing and putting into use 3,000km of expressway along with several airports and some other key transport works by 2025, the ministry has pushed ahead with decentralising management to project management boards. The minister will chair monthly online meetings with project management boards of key projects to timely handle any arising problems, and regularly conduct site inspection.
In 2023, the Transport Ministry started work on 26 transport projects and completed 20 others, including nine expressways with a total length of 475km, raising the total length of the national expressway network to 1,892km.
