Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides information on the rescue of 10 Vietnamese citizens in Malaysia
WVR - On the afternoon of September 17, during a regular press conference, reporters requested the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide information on the citizen protection efforts for 10 Vietnamese fishermen in Perak, Malaysia.

Accordingly, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated that on August 27, immediately after receiving information from the office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau Province requesting support for 10 fishermen working in Perak, Malaysia, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia promptly verified the information and coordinated with local authorities, directly contacting the group of 10 fishermen.
Ms. Hang informed that, by maintaining close communication with the fishermen, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia arranged transportation to move the 10 fishermen to a safe location in Kuala Lumpur, ensuring their accommodation and living conditions.
Simultaneously, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia implemented necessary measures to issue documents, assist the group in reporting to local police, and complete exit procedures with Malaysia's immigration authorities. Subsequently, the 10 fishermen were escorted by Embassy officials to the airport and completed procedures to safely return to Vietnam.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises workers to exercise caution when working abroad. Before deciding to work overseas, they should verify recruiters, workplaces, contracts, salaries, and living and working conditions; avoid trusting verbal promises or transferring money to unclear brokers.
While abroad, workers should keep copies of their documents, maintain contact with their families, and promptly inform local authorities or Vietnamese Representative Missions if threatened, if their passports are held, or if they are coerced into work.
