
Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents Certificate of Acceptance to Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Ho Chi Minh City

Speaking at the ceremony, Director General Doan Hoang Minh congratulated Ms. Aluwihare on her reappointment as Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Ho Chi Minh City. He expressed confidence in her ability to contribute positively to strengthening Vietnam-Sri Lanka relations in general and consular cooperation in particular.
The Director General also affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant Vietnamese authorities would continue to support Ms. Aluwihare in fulfilling her duties effectively.
Vietnam and Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations on July 21, 1970, marking the beginning of a significant bilateral partnership. Over the past five decades, the two countries have fostered strong ties across various sectors, including politics, diplomacy, trade, culture, education and tourism. Vietnam and Sri Lanka have fostered a close friendship, maintained regular exchanges between the high-level leaders of the two countries and supported each other at regional and international forums.
Expressing her appreciation to Director General Doan Hoang Minh for the meeting and the formal recognition, Ms. Aluwihare highlighted the special significance of this event in the context that Vietnam and Sri Lanka commemorate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1970-2025).
The Honorary Consul also expressed her delight at the positive developments in bilateral relations and reaffirmed her commitment to further enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
