At the reception, Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his delight at the robust development of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He also highlighted the remarkable progress in friendly cooperation between Aichi Prefecture, particularly Nagoya City, and various Vietnamese localities.
The Deputy Minister conveyed his heartfelt gratitude and admiration for Professor Natsume Nagato’s dedication to Vietnam. Over the past 30 years, Professor Natsume has conducted numerous medical and humanitarian activities, including performing cleft lip and palate surgeries for thousands of children with disabilities in Vietnam. Additionally, the Deputy Minister acknowledged Professor Natsume's invaluable and timely support for the Vietnamese community in Aichi Prefecture during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Standing Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu suggested that Honorary Consul Natsume Nagato continue to pay attention to promoting the cooperative relationship between Nagoya City in particular and Aichi Prefecture in general and Vietnam, supporting local connections to promote the potential and strengths of both sides; strengthening communication and promotion of Vietnam's investment environment to attract investment from Aichi Prefecture enterprises. The Standing Deputy Minister also suggested that Prof. Natsume continue to implement medical cooperation activities, community health care, humanitarian surgery programs for children in difficult circumstances; support the organization of people-to-people exchange activities, exchanges between the young generation; support the community of about 67,000 Vietnamese people in Aichi Prefecture.

From his part, Honorary Consul Natsume Nagato briefed Standing Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu on a range of initiatives undertaken in both Vietnam and Japan. These included efforts to establish a Vietnamese Studies department in Japan and organizing a Vietnamese proficiency test for Japanese nationals.
Professor Natsume reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan in protecting the rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens. He also pledged to actively promote investment by businesses in Nagoya City and the broader Chubu region into Vietnam, while encouraging the recruitment of Vietnamese interns to work in Japan.
