Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung warmly welcomed and highly appreciated Governor Yamamoto Ichita for taking the time to visit Vietnam to attend the Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum, held for the first time in Vietnam as agreed by the senior leaders of both countries.
Foreign Minister Trung commended the cooperation between Gunma Prefecture and Vietnam through various activities promoting people-to-people exchanges, education and training, labor reception, business connectivity, and investment promotion. He expressed gratitude to Governor Yamamoto and the Gunma Prefectural Government for their continuous support to the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in the prefecture.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Trung thanked the Japanese Government and localities for their support in Vietnam's development, especially during the period of implementing the renovation policy.
Assessing the local cooperation between Vietnam and Japan as highly effective and a highlight in bilateral relations, foreign Minister Trung expressed his desire for Japanese localities, including Gunma Prefecture, to accompany Vietnam in the new development phase. He emphasized new, substantive, and effective cooperation areas such as high-tech agriculture, sustainable industry, and high-quality human resource training, while expanding into new fields like rare earths, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum science, and other areas where Vietnamese localities can support Gunma and other Japanese localities.

For his part, Governor Yamamoto Ichita thanked Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung for taking the time to meet and expressed his honor to attend this Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum.
He stated that annually, a delegation of businesses from the prefecture visits Vietnam to seek cooperation and investment opportunities. Many businesses from Gunma are interested in expanding their investments in Vietnam, particularly in manufacturing equipment, supporting industries, high-tech agriculture, and tourism.
Gunma Prefecture aims to promote a practical cooperation model between businesses and localities to train high-quality human resources serving both Vietnam and Japan.
The Governor affirmed that Gunma will continue to implement support programs for the Vietnamese community living and working in the prefecture, considering it an important bridge for the friendly cooperation between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to accompany Gunma Prefecture and Vietnamese localities to foster more practical and effective cooperation between Vietnam and Gunma, as well as other Japanese localities, in the future.
