Lam Dong province allocates 34 billion VND to eradicate substandard housing

The People’s Committee of Lam Dong province has earmarked 34.3 billion VND (1.34 million USD) from the 5% savings in regular expenditures across district and city budgets in 2024 to speed up efforts to eliminate temporary and substandard housing for poor and near-poor households.

Under the plan, households building new homes will receive 60 million VND per unit, while those repairing existing houses will be granted 30 million VND per unit.

In addition, 32.4 billion VND from the remaining savings in the 2024 regular expenditure fund will be monitored and allocated based on district and city proposals, ensuring continued support for housing assistance needs in 2025 and beyond.

Previously, the provincial Department of Finance proposed using 34.3 billion VND from the total 66.7 billion VND saved from 2024’s regular expenditures to support this initiative.

Last year, the province successfully upgraded 1,004 homes for poor and near-poor households. Of these, 969 were funded through contributions to the provincial "For the Poor" fund, while 35 were supported by district-level "For the Poor" funds.

For 2025, the province aims to assist in the removal of 966 temporary and dilapidated homes, including the construction of 740 new homes and repairs for 226 existing ones.
