The target was set by Nguyen Huu Nghia, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, during a meeting on March 4 to review progress on the housing support programme. Nghia stressed the need for a determined, coordinated effort from provincial to grassroots levels, ensuring transparency, fairness, and proper targeting.
He called for a thorough review process to identify eligible households based on established criteria. District-level steering committees are tasked with approving the finalised list of beneficiaries by March 10.
The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment will compile and submit the list to the province for approval by March 20.
Once approved, the list must be publicly posted, and beneficiaries should be informed promptly.
Nghia also instructed relevant departments to propose funding allocations, ensuring financial resources are distributed to local authorities by March 31 and used as intended.
Hung Yen has issued several directives and policies to support the elimination of substandard housing and successfully launched the “Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing” campaign. So far, the province has raised 30 billion VND (1.2 million USD) in donations from organisations, businesses, and individuals.
As of February 27, a province-wide survey identified 1,775 households needing housing support. Of these, 906 require new homes, while 869 need housing repairs.
