India helps Vietnam set up a state-of-the-art ICT Center

TGVN. On August 7, an Agreement between Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology and Center for Development of Advanced Computing of India was signed to set up a state-of-the-art ICT Center in Vietnam.

Ambassador Pranay Verma and Mr. Vu Van San, President of PTIT signed an Addendum to the Agreement between Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), Ministry of Information and Communications and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology of Government of India in Ha Noi. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Ministry and PTIT.

Under the Agreement, C-DAC will set up a state-of-the-art ICT Centre for advanced IT training using conventional, Virtual classroom and e-Learning Technologies at Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology in Ho Chi Minh City with a non-refundable Grant in Aid fund of US$ 1.08 million under the ASEAN-India Cooperation Fund. The Centre will be accredited as an Authorized Training Centre of C-DAC for 2 years. It will impart ICT training using the framework & standards of CDAC’s Advanced Computing Training Schools for skill up-gradation, capacity building for local industries & removing the digital divide. C-DAC will also extend help to the Center in developing e-content in niche areas of ICT and depute two experts for a period of six months for initial coordination.

C-DAC is the premier R&D organization of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for carrying out R&D in IT, Electronics and related areas. As an institution for high-quality Research and Development, C-DAC has been at the forefront of the Information Technology revolution, constantly building capacities in emerging & enabling technologies and innovating and leveraging its expertise in developing IT products and solutions. It has successfully implemented about 40 projects in the setting of ICT centers in many countries across the globe.

Extending help in expanding the institutional capabilities of Vietnam in the field of human resource development is a key component of India's Development Partnership Programmes. It also underpins India’s commitment to strengthen digital connectivity projects in Vietnam. These capacity-building initiatives embody India's belief that growth and prosperity of the world are indivisible, and that India stands ready to play its part by sharing its skills and technical expertise acquired over decades of its developmental journey.

Embassy of India notes with gratitude the excellent supports extended by Government Office, Ministry of Information and Communication, Ministry of Planning and Investment and Ministry of Finance of Vietnam to CDAC in executing this important project. The project is expected to be completed before the end of this year.
