Speaking at the conference, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong shared that the “Google Digital School” model was conceived after a delegation from the Department visited Google Education in Sydney, Australia. From that trip, the Department proposed bringing the model to Vietnam to create a strong transformation in teaching and learning, so that every day at school would be a joyful, productive, and inspiring experience for both teachers and students.

Mr. Cuong said the goal of the “Google Digital School” model is to fundamentally transform teaching and learning, promote the application of technology and AI so that all students, including those in disadvantaged areas, can access high-quality, equal and modern education.

The “Google Digital School” model has been piloted at Xuy Xa Secondary School (Hong Son commune) and Nguyen Huy Tuong Secondary School (Dong Anh commune) since the beginning of the 2024–2025 school year.

According to the pilot results, 100% of teachers were satisfied, saying it saved significant time in managing, grading, and organizing classes; 100% of students were more engaged in lessons; and 90% of students said the lessons were more interesting. Students’ digital skills improved significantly, along with their creativity, self-learning ability and teamwork skills.

Based on the pilot results, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and AI Education agreed to implement cooperation directions for the 2025–2027 period. In this phase, the two sides will work together to train 100,000 teachers according to Google’s global standards, including 30,000 teachers trained in AI applications. They will also build a centralized data platform and expand the “Google Digital School” model, with a focus on providing students with learning devices.

The Department and AI Education will also organize AI-in-education seminars to update trends, share experiences, and develop a personalized digital learning resource library for teaching and learning.

Director Tran The Cuong affirmed the education sector’s determination to build an open, flexible, and integrated education system that strongly applies technology to improve teaching quality and effectiveness, aiming for international standards and contributing to the digital transformation of Hanoi’s education sector.

To achieve this goal, in the 2025–2026 school year, Hanoi’s education sector will focus on improving teachers’ and students’ digital competencies, investing in modern smart infrastructure, expanding the digital school model, and increasing AI applications.

Mr. Tim Paolini, Global Director in charge of Strategic Projects at Google for Education, emphasized the commitment to long-term cooperation with Hanoi in its digital transformation strategy, building a smart, modern, and learner-centered education system. The goal of this partnership is to make Hanoi a global model for AI application in education.
