The event is also the opening activity for the widespread deployment of non-cash payments in all districts in Hanoi, for the near future, contributing to accelerating the digital transformation and digital economic development of Hanoi.

The launch ceremony was jointly held by the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications, the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the State Bank of Hanoi Branch, and the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade.

Ten banks and non-cash payment service providers attended the event, introducing non-cash payment products and services to people and organisations.

Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee Pham Tuan Long said, “Currently when making transactions on the streets throughout the district, even if the cost is less than 10,000 VND, people can also pay by money transfer or scanning the QR code.”

The district will choose specific streets to fasten the “Cashless payment streets” nameplates on, such as walking streets, book streets, and food streets, in addition to some shopping malls and traditional markets.

About 100% of organisations and individuals doing business on pedestrian streets in the district, will be able to conduct non-cash payments by the end of December 2023.
