Gov’t approves electricity bills cut for certain businesses as part of COVID-19 relief

Enterprises specializing in processing and preservation of aquatic products are among the beneficiaries from the proposal to cut electricity bills. |
Accordingly, the beneficiaries are:
(i) Enterprises specializing in processing and preservation of aquatic products;
(ii) Enterprises operating in processing and preservation of vegetables and fruits;
(iii) Enterprises producing exports with last year’s export turnover of more than US$1 billion each.
Eligible customers shall be entitled a 10 percent discount on their electricity bills (exclusive of value added tax) for September, October and November this year.
The Government estimated that the total reduction would be worth VND 650 billion (nearly US$29,000).
On July 31, the Government issued Resolution No. 83/NQ-CP to apply a 15 per cent reduction in electricity prices for households which have electricity consumption of up to 200kWh per month.
For households which have electricity consumption of more than 200kWh per month shall receive a 10 per cent discount.
The reductions shall be applicable to power bills in August and September.
Earlier on June 2 , the Government issued Resolution No 55/NQ-CP to reduce electricity prices from June to the end of this year to support those heavily affected by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, including tourist accommodation facilities.
The reduction was estimated to be worth a total of VND 1.57 trillion.
