General Secretary, President To Lam orders stronger anti-corruption efforts from internal affairs agencies

WVR/VNA - General Secretary and President To Lam has requested central agencies in charge of internal affairs to perform their functions and duties properly.

Party General Secretary and State President To Lam has requested central agencies in charge of internal affairs to maintain solid law knowledge, show sharp, professional skills, win people's support, and perform their functions and duties properly while accurately forecasting the situation, clearly identifying risks and threats to national interests, political security, and social order and safety.

Speaking at a meeting with the agencies’ leaders in Hanoi on October 20, the leader highlighted the agencies’ extremely important role as the core, loyal force, the sharp "sword," the firm "shield," the specific "vaccine" to protect the Fatherland, maintain social order and discipline, protect the people, and safeguard the Party, State, and regime.

He hailed the agencies’ efforts, high determination, and important achievements in performing their tasks, attributing the result to the strong solidarity and close coordination based on respect for the law.

The leader expressed his hope that the agencies will continue enhancing the quality of their coordination and cooperation with other sectors in the coming time.

Alongside, they should advise the Party and State timely on policies and strategic solutions to protect the Fatherland, maintain national security, social order, and safety, build a pure and strong Party and political system, and provide best support to socio-economic development, he said.

Lam reminded the agencies to prepare for the upcoming meeting of the Standing Board of the Central Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negative Phenomena.

They should resolutely, regularly, comprehensively, and concertedly implement inspection, supervision, auditing, investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of judgments, ensuring the early detection and strict handling of cases of corruption, wastefulness, and negativity, he stressed.

Lam emphasized the need for the agencies to show better performance in corruption combat and prevention simultaneously through harmonious measures from political, ideological, organizational, administrative, economic, and criminal solutions.

Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, head of the committee’s Commission for Home Affairs Phan Dinh Trac, who is also deputy head of the Standing Board of the Central Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Corruption, Wastefulness and Negative Phenomena, said that over the years, agencies in charge of home affairs have shown smooth and effective coordination.

He said that the agencies have received great attention from the Party and State through optimal facilities, means, working conditions, and human resources.

Trac affirmed that in the coming time, the agencies will work more closely and efficiently together, completing all tasks, building a pure and strong Party and political system, ensuring defense-security, social order, and safety, and providing the best support to socio-economic development.
