Widely recognized as a breakthrough in polymer substrate technology, Polysecure Shield is the world’s first polymer banknote substrate to integrate an optically variable device (OVD) foil directly into the substrate itself - a leap beyond traditional surface-applied features.

What particularly impressed many was the solution’s durability and sustainability profile. Conventional OVD foils can degrade quickly due to abrasion, moisture, UV exposure, or contamination, Polysecure Shield preserves both the visual brilliance and structural integrity of holographic features over time.

Polysecure Shield offers significant production advantages, including a flat surface that allows for full printability and seamless design integration. Its compatibility with current production processes means central banks can adopt the technology without disrupting existing workflows.

The embedded nature of the innovation drew a very high interest at the recent Currency Conference in Bangkok, due to its perceived technical advantage over surface-applied features.

Feedback from central banks and independent experts were very positive, highlighting both the innovative nature of the feature and the impressive speed at which the new product was developed and brought to market.

There was general consensus that the embedded technology passed all durability benchmarks and represented a significant step forward in the evolution of secure, high-performance banknote substrates.

Polysecure Shield, developed by Q&T Hi-Tech, introduces a significant evolution in polymer banknote substrates by integrating security features directly into the substrate itself — marking a key departure from conventional polymer platforms.

Polysecure Shield raises the standard in durability, security, and design flexibility. By embedding advanced optical security features directly into the substrate, it eliminates key vulnerabilities of traditional surface-applied technologies — offering a next-generation solution for central banks seeking robust, sustainable, and visually impactful banknotes.
