In recent weeks, provinces in Central Vietnam such as Hue City, Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, and Da Nang City have been continuously battered by storms causing prolonged heavy rains, flash floods, and widespread landslides.
According to preliminary statistics from the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, dozens have died or gone missing, over 25,000 households have been evacuated urgently, and major transportation routes like national highway 1A and the North-South railway have been disrupted. Thousands of hectares of crops have been swept away, with economic losses estimated in the trillions of dong, severely impacting the lives of residents in the flood-hit areas.
In response to this urgent situation, under the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi has sent diplomatic notes and open letters to local ministries, sectors, friends, and partners, calling on the Brazilian community to join in humanitarian support for flood victims in Central Vietnam.

Based on positive exchanges between the Embassy and the Brazilian side, the Brazil-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce has officially launched a donation campaign for the people in Central Vietnam who are suffering severe damage from the floods. The campaign calls on the business community, social organizations, and Brazilian citizens to contribute financially, as well as donate goods and essential supplies to support thousands of families in Vietnam facing hardship.
Notably, JBS Group, one of Brazil's largest food processing companies with partnerships in Vietnam, has pioneered by donating 20.000 USD and 1.000 sets of blankets, sheets, and mattresses to affected families. This timely support for flood victims reflects the social responsibility of Brazilian businesses and highlights the deepening comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Brazil following President Lula da Silva's state visit to Hanoi in 2024.

Additionally, the Brazilian government, through the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced during a meeting with a delegation from the Central Party's Strategic Policy Department, led by Deputy Head Nguyen Duc Hien, visiting Brazil (December 1-6, 2025), along with Ambassador Bui Van Nghi, that they are exploring suitable support measures for the people of Central Vietnam.
An ABC representative emphasized the possibility of sharing experiences in disaster management, flood response, and post-disaster reconstruction, areas where Brazil has gained practical lessons from handling major floods in Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia, and Pernambuco in recent years.

Simultaneously, several Brazilian companies in logistics, agriculture, and supply chains are actively considering supporting transportation costs and sponsoring relief goods to Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil affirms it will continue to work closely with Brazilian authorities and the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure all aid reaches Vietnam promptly, safely, and effectively.
In addition to these contributions, many embassies in the area and the Brazil-Vietnam Friendship Association have sent letters and messages of condolence, inquiring about the losses in Vietnam. They also express confidence that under the leadership and concern of the Party, State, and Government, the local people of Vietnam will soon overcome difficulties and recover, stabilizing their lives.
The timely and heartfelt contributions from Brazilian friends provide significant encouragement to the people of Central Vietnam, helping Vietnam overcome the aftermath of natural disasters, restore production, and quickly stabilize the lives of tens of thousands of affected families.
