Massive testing is an effective way to early detect suspect cases in the community.

The four new cases live in Bach Tru village of Me Linh district on the outskirts of Ha Noi, said Khong Minh Tuan, vice director of the Ha Noi Centre for Diseases Control.

Two of the four new cases are parents of a COVID-19 patient confirmed earlier by the Ministry of Health. The other two had contact with COVID-19 patients.

Hoang Anh Tuan, head of the Me Lin district administration, warned local residents of Bach Tru village to stay indoors on February 1-2. Medical workers will soon take samples for COVID-19 testing of all relevant cases in the village.

With more cases detected, the Ha Noi administration has decided to ban all bar, karaoke and dancing services as of February 1. They also decided to close all schools of all grades in the locality in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.

Ha Noi has confirmed 19 coronavirus cases since the virus recurred in Hai Duong and Quang Ninh provinces less than a week ago. Most of the cases are closely linked to the two hotspots.

The fresh outbreak has been reported in 9 cities and provinces across the country, with 240 cases confirmed by the Ministry of Health, mostly in Hai Duong and Quang Ninh.
