Foreign Ministry actively coordinates support measures for Vietnamese fishermen amid Typhoon Ragasa: Spokesperson

At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responding to media inquiries about Vietnam's request for international support to ensure safe shelter for Vietnamese fishermen's boats as Typhoon No. 9 (Ragasa) approaches land, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated that on September 25, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed directives for ministries, sectors, and localities to urgently respond to Typhoon Ragasa.
The Prime Minister called for proactive measures at the highest level with utmost determination, anticipating the worst-case scenarios to avoid surprises, prioritizing the safety of people's lives above all.
Spokesperson Hang shared that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately directed Vietnamese representative missions in China and the Philippines to proactively contact local authorities to facilitate shelter, support, rescue, and repair of Vietnamese boats if necessary.
"Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent diplomatic notes to the Chinese and Philippine Embassies in Vietnam, requesting coordination with Chinese and Philippine authorities to support Vietnamese boats if needed.
The Ministry has also assigned staff to be on duty 24/7 to promptly support and coordinate with domestic and international agencies in response to developments of Typhoon Ragasa," Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated.
