During the call, Foreign Minister Trung expressed his delight at the robust development of Vietnam-France relations, affirming that Vietnam always values enhancing multifaceted cooperation with France, the first EU member with which Vietnam has established a comprehensive strategic partnership.

To effectively implement the outcomes of recent high-level visits between the two countries, particularly the visits to France by General Secretary To Lam (October 2024) and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (June 2025), and the visit to Vietnam by French President Macron (May 2025), Foreign Minister Trung proposed that both sides strengthen political trust through exchanges of delegations at all levels, across Party, State, National Assembly, and people-to-people diplomacy channels. He emphasized the pioneering role of the foreign ministries of both countries in deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership, matching the stature of the new relationship framework.

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Trung suggested that both sides maximize the potential for economic, trade, and investment cooperation; he urged France to soon ratify the EVIPA and advocate for the EC to lift the IUU yellow card on Vietnamese seafood to further promote cooperation between Vietnam and the EU.

Expressing his pleasure in the call with Foreign Minister Trung, Minister Barrot highly appreciated Vietnam's role in the region and affirmed that the high-frequency, substantive, and comprehensive exchanges between the high-level leaders of the two countries are concrete evidence of the high-trust partnership between the two nations, creating strong momentum for further bilateral cooperation in the future.

Minister Barrot affirmed France's desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in strategic fields such as energy, transportation, and aerospace, while continuing to collaborate with Vietnam to promote multilateralism and address global challenges.

Both sides agreed to leverage the new cooperation pillar of science and technology in bilateral relations; France will support Vietnam in enhancing capabilities in new technology fields such as biotechnology, industry, digital technology, semiconductors, quantum, and digital infrastructure development.

Sharing views on international and regional situations, both sides agreed to actively exchange and coordinate positions on issues of mutual concern, promoting inter-regional cooperation between ASEAN and the EU, contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region and globally.
